Nice story, Joe’s an amazing guide. If not mistaken he told me about that back packing trip you guys did while in the river one day. My family is from Dubino, NE of Como. Cheers!
Interesting read, I ran into you guys a couple of times on Friday on the river. I was very successful nymphing in a couple of my favorite fishy spots. It's much more difficult to walk and wade the river now with the closures, but the past two weeks have been worth the effort for me. Also, my wife's family (Quilici) is from Lucca as well.
I believe her family is from the northern side of Lucca.
We could have met at ancil Hoffman, I lived in Sacramento for 20 years before we moved to smartsville over 3 years ago. I also used to shop at kienes fly shop before they closed as well.

Sounds like the Lower Yuba. Some days the fishiest spots leave you scratching your head. Fun read, thank you.

Is your wife's family from the northern Lucca or the Sicilian Lucca? Also, did we meet one time on the AR at Ancil Hoffman?

I ran into a guy fly fishing at Ancil Hoffman one day who was wearing a dress shirt, tie and a vest. Was that you?
No that was not me.
